I had a rhom and i know they grow slow, but im looking to get some reds now and wondered what the growth rate is. Should i buy them at 2-3" for cheap or dish out some big bucks for 4-5"?

They grow really fast until about 6" and then they will grow about the same pace as your Rhom.

So it may only 3 months before a 2" Red was a 5". Depends on conditions etc.. but about an inch a month till 6" and then 1-2" a year from then.

Buy them at 2-3" Or even "dime size" They will get big in no time. Their growth rate is extremely fast up until anout 6-7"

Damn Rite. After 7" you just have to wait and wait to see them grow. They take for ever.

i got my reds when they were dime size. i started out with 9 of them in my 85. 4 months later i have 4 of them and they are around 5 in.... they grow over nightt.

Its also good watching them grow so quick. I went on holiday for a 2 weeks and left my mum feeding them every day for me. Was I surprised when I returned, you could see the difference in just 2 weeks !

same thing,i had my RA feed my fish over christmas break, almost 5 weeks, and i could easily see the difference.

I bought 4 baby rbp's about 2 1/2 weeks ago..ive been feeding them 2 frozen cubes of bloodworms a day .
they have grown considerably in size since then...they seem to burn it off by swimming in the current! i cant wait to see them in a month..
