The name says it all. Also, can any tank mates be kept with them and if anyone has owned one maybe could share their experience.

Have seen a male that was 12" includng tail, 75 would be best, a 55 would been absolute minimum. As far as tankmates, they vary alot, most will accept plecos that are too big to eat, some will accept other smaller tough cichlids like cons. A few will accept other large, but less aggressive cichlids like severums. They are generally not tough enough to be with true tough cichlids.

what is the toughest, meanest cichlid? By aggressive I mean cant have tank mates, devours food, doesnt even like you. (I know posts like these start arguments, and people say that it all depends on the fish and the environment etc., but in GENERAL)

Here is my RD, and this is after I had bothered him for a while and he had stopped getting really aggressive. He kicks the vacuums ass, and generally makes life rough on heaters, and filters.
Lots of debate about meanest cichlid, but jags, RD, Midas, Dovii, Umbee, T. Buttikofori, are all pretty rough. In an average size home tank <100 gallons most won't take tankmates at all.

normally you will find the most ill tempered cichlid to be an adult dovii. however every fish varies depending on lots of things, namely, how the owner provides for it. every fish has potential to be agressive, but doviis seem to be the most naturally aggressive fish available from a lfs

Thanks for the compliments, he is turning out pretty well.
He is currently in a 55, his 75 sprung a leak and is getting resealed. Should be back together in 3 days or so.
