I want a floating plant that grows fast, looks good, doesnt hang down too far from the top, wont clog my filter, and dims the lights really well. I am thinking duckweed or water sprite. Any suggestions?

NO! not duckweed. It's a freakin nightmare! It will clog up your filter intake in minutes. I personally like water wysteria as a floating plant. Very hardy.

Check with Innes, I think he has pictures and info on it. It's a fairly common plant from Asia, kind of looks like carrot tops or parsley.
