Man its hard to net 3" fish in a 180 gallon. Just a few minutes ago I had to net my spilos in my 180. It must have taken me about a hour and a half to catch them all. I am leaving for Spring break vacation and will not be back for a week. I figured that if i somehow seperated my spilos, then perhaps they would all still be around after a week of no feeding. I hardly trust them around each other if I were to miss a daily feeding, let alone a week.
In order to hold them I got 10 large crystal geyser plastic bottles and proceeded to melt holes in it with a few very hot screwdrivers. More then enough holes for water circulation. I put each spilo in a seperate bottle and let each bottle sink to the bottom of my tank. Hopefully they will be okay like that for a week. I figure that it has to be better then the alternative.
Over the past week I have been over feeding them, in an attempt to "fatten" them up. I will give them each a small feeder tonite. In the mornig before i leave I will remove any uneaten feeder parts, I dont really expect to find any though, and add one more feeder. Hopefully that will be enough to last them till next saturday when I return.
