hey all you salty's
i have just been offered a 160gal marine tank for £200.
what ya think it only needs a heater.
ok what do you recomend and could a scrape keeping a small shark in there.
help me out guys and gals JON>>

defenitally not a shark. id go for it. is it the whole setup, like liverock and all or is it just tank, filter, skimmer, lights, ect. if it actually comes with liverock, that would be stupid of you not to get it.

not sure about the live rock but if not im going to go with a non-reef tank i.e small triggers, lions, eels, and hopefully if i can find one a marbled catshark as they only get 24'' and will tolerate these other fish.

marbled cat
banded sand
coral shark.

any info on tank mates for these fish will be welcome thanks guys.

how can a 160g tank be a nano reef plus lions get big sharks are out of the question i mean who can tell you what to put in there but it will only be your loss do allot of reading before you get into it

a banded sand shark can max at 24'' and would be fine i have been told.
some lion fish dont get over 8'' so im sure i could get somthing in there.

do you know the subject in question or just adding your thoughts.

but yeah a 160 fowlr with a nice coral catshark (smallest shark going) would be nice and the price for the setup is amazing at least by cdn standards head on over to grimreefers theres a few guys on there with shark setups might give u some ideas

you CANT hold a shark in that tank. 24" is still too big for a 24" wide tank. and from what ive heard, if youre just in it to see the shark eat things and crap because of its rep. and all, expect to be dissapointed, coral banded and bamboo sharks are p*ssy nurse shark like catfish sharks.

i dont think im in it for that if i was i would buy f*cking cichlids.
i think they are fascinating and beautiful.
just remember the full feliblity of these fish.they can full 180* in half their body lenth.

i agree with carisma your talking about a shark that has the potential to reach 24 inches whats teh likelyhood that its going to happen in a home aquaria i am also with him on the whole beauty of the fish aspect if he wanted killers there are much better fish to get than bottom dwelling sharks

wow didnt realize there was one thats even smaller than the coral cat shark but i am sure either would do fine in a 160 for quite some time
