How can you tell the difference between a 3" gold spilo and a 3" gibbus? They both look the same in pictures I have seen. I am asking this so that when I go to my LFS I don't end up picking up a Gibbus instead of a Spilo.
In actuality, I have seen fish as you described with being S. marginatus than S. rhombeus. So if one has a good clear photo of the fish, it would help to review.that name is characterized with very forward setting eyes and a high back, i.e. rohm morph
