I have some carbon around but it is only if I need to remove meds from a tank. I have never had a reason to use carbon so I dont. I think it is kind of a crutch for some problems....instead of getting to the root of the problem, people use carbon to mask it.azeral26 said:Why do you not use carbon?

So you just use bio-media, micron filters etc in your canisters?grosse gurke said:I have some carbon around but it is only if I need to remove meds from a tank. Same here. I fill the baskets on my Emp 400 with ceramic beads for biofiltration.grosse gurke said:I have never had a reason to use carbon so I dont.

Never. You rinse them off in a bucket of tank water every few months and that is it...and by rinse off I mean take a bucket with tank water, dunk the basket and slosh it around.....done.How often do you change the beads?
