I've been having recent filter noise problems, as my tank is in my room, with no chance of re-location. So I've decided to get a quieter Eheim canister filter. I've not got the cash at the moment to get a 2260, as it's very expensive after buying the filter and all the media required for it. So I think I may get the Eheim 2217+. It has a Pump output of 1000 Litres/Hour and a Filter circulation of 790 Litres/Hour. So I'm thinking that since my tank holds 672 litres, then I would be achieving a full tank water turnover inside the hour... which I have read from several sources to be recommended.
So what's your opinion on this? I need a quieter filter because it's near my place of sleep... so hopefully the Eheim will sort this problem out? I would love to hear from anyone who is in a similar situation to me, regarding the Eheim 2217 being in there bedroom. Thanks in advance for any help guys

In an ideal world you would like a 10* turnover on a Pirnaha tank, especially a shoal of many. But more realistically in such a big tank 3-4 would be good. I would save for the 2260 if I as you. Although they are really steep not that much more than some of the others.

Any Eheim will be quiet. Mine isn't in my bedroom its in a spare room. Just 3 tanks and my computer, i'm sat on. The largest with the Eheim is silent. All I can hear is the computer and my 60 gallon.

I don't have the P's anymore... i have Cichlids now. Not that it matters mate, cause they are messy fish too. Anyway, i need a quick fix solution to my problem of the noisy filter, so i don't have any time to save up. I was thinking of getting a 2217 firstly, and see how it does with my tank... obviously the fish will not suffer, because i will have the 2 fluvals as back-up in testing it. And if it does well enough on it's own i'll use just it, if it don't i'll get a second one. Because as it comes with the filter media, it is cheaper buying two of them, than buying one 2260. And if i had two, the overall turnover of the two 2217's would be 100 litres more than only one 2260.

i have the 2217 on each of my 75g and they r great. i have never had a problem wiht them. they make no noise if that is your main concern. also when u prime it make sure that it is completly filled with water and for the first couple of min it will be choppy until the air gets out of the filter. i had some problems starting it up. great filter though
