By far the best is KAZAA LITE .

No Spyware or adware.
Follow the instructions during instalation.
Make sure to use something like ADAWARE to keep your system clean of
resource robbing spyware ..

Any filesharing program will enable you to download either a virus or a program containing a virus, use common sense and use a good Anti-virus program and keep it updated. Scan any downloads before running them .
It's less of a problems with music files but some are names as
"song name.mp3.vbs" and are very small in size and are usually worms or trojans.
Use common sense.

I use Kazaa Lite, WinMX and LimeWire: they're all good, but Kazaa Lite has the most users, and best chance to get what you're looking for.

btw: never ever use regular Kazaa, unless you prefer your computer virus- and spyware-ridden... And even with the ones mentioned here, use AdAware or similar, like Winkyee said.

bearshare, kazaa, imesh, morpheus, winmx, etc

they ALL install spyware on your system, which will most likely screw your internet sooner or later...

Kazaa Lite is the only one I know of that doesn't!

One more thing,
I've used iMesh-lite in the past too and while Kazaa lite is in my opinion a far better P2P file sharing tool, iMesh does offer the ability to automatically scan for viruses. You will have to point to your anti-virus program by entering something like the following without quotations
"C:program FilesNorton AntiVirusNAVAPW32.EXE" in the settings.
I'm not too sure on the current availibility of iMesh-lite.
