does anyone know about the time when the nitrates will be safe in my 55 gallon tank, the nitrites dropped to 0 yesterday, the ammonia peaked 2 weeks ago and has remained at 0 since, and the ph is always at 7.

If ammonia and nitrites are at zero, do a water change and then add the fishies!

For the time you own your fish, you will have to do a 10 - 25% water change every week. This is how you control the nitrates. Nitrates should never be at zero.

25% weekly water change should be good as long as you don't overstock your 55

I would test to make sure you have nitrates before water change or adding fish.
