my new 36x12x18 dosent have a hood and I'm planning on building one
any ideas? my other tank is a 35G high so I managed to use the hood off a 10G
with two little bulbs inside but thats not enough light. so I've decided thats gotta be a major factor in the new one. problem is I wanna use long aerator rocks like in my other tank but they give off alot of spray when the bubbles hit the top and that is a problem if I go with a screen style top instead of a 100% covered top like a proper hood. maybe I should have a sheet of glass cut to fit with support diagonally (glass,wood or metal strips/sections) and than have 2 flourescent lights/hoods on top of that. I'm confused

I've done some searches and I'm gonna go glass but with an AC500 how do I cut
out the portion for that and say the air line. also when you say glass shop, what glass shop, I've never seen such a place. and my biggest concern. I was gonna buy a 28" twin bulb florescent fixture from home depot for about 30 bucks. I think theyre a bit heavy to put on just a sheet of glass, if it falls thru all hell breaks loose when the electricity meets the water. what to do about these issues

they want over 150Cdn for a hood with two flourescents

why would you not want to go glass? weight of light fixture?
