i'm getting a used 65 gallon tank in a couple of days and i'm wondering how long should i cycle it for? they guy is supposed to give me a bucket of the water that was in the tank and maybe a fish to help with the cycling. i'm getting all the equipment used also.

3-4 weeks I think would be good but I could be wrong any thoughts buddies?

I'd say just buy some testing kits for ammonia and nitrite and test it every couple days until they're both at 0.

try and keep water in the tank with the already established gravel thats where the benifical bacteria is thats needed.
