what would be the best way to go about cleaning the rocks that i took from the lake near my house? i know not to use any "harsh" chemicals but i dont think only a hot water rinse will do, cuz god knows whats on these rocks. u'de probly think im cheap but if u seen these rocks u'de understand why i didn't just buy some from the lfs

when i use rocks that i find outside i boil them in water for a while and use a scrub brush to make sure theres no dirt or anything on it

well, i dont think my mother would appreciate me using her cooking instuments to boil water...any other ideas?

maybe if u boil some water in a kettle and then pour it into a bucket with the riocks u should do this to kill any bacterias that are on the rock

I used the pressure washer on mine and then boiled them...

I think you should be cool if you boil some pots of water and dump the water into a bucket with the rocks.

I found the best way to do it would be to first boil the rock. Second scrub the rock off and then put it in a bucket of water with a capful of bleach (will kill any remain bacteria that the boiling water did not). Let it sit in the bleach water for 24 hours. Then take another bucket and put water in it with some water conditioner (at least 4 capful) and put the rock in it. Let that sit for 48 hours. Rinse the rock real good and you are set

I clean them like dishes, use a scrub brush and hot water in the sink. Then let it soak in super hot water and scrub it again.

i scrub them then i boil then i rescrub. boil again. the i let them sit in a bucket of water over night. i got all my rocks from the river by my house

Step 1 - Throw them in the tub.

Step 2 - Hot water rinse.

Step 3 - Throw em in the tank.

Nothing really big to it being that you'll find the same rocks in their rivers and streams. Never had any problems that way.
