do regular water changes and add some salt. one of my irritans has one right now. there bc he freaks out every time i turn the light out and he hits the heater and glass. in a larger tank and some sald he should be fine.

i am the wrong person to ask about live plants but i have always done one tea spoon for every 10g of water. the nice thing about using salt is u can use alittle extra and it wont hurt your fish. ask in the plant forum about that
