When adding new fish, what I normally do is a small feeding followed by a water change & rearrange decor (if there any claimed territories in the tank). In the process of performing the water change, I'll then add the new fish while watching him get aquainted w/ his tank mates then continue. Keep an eye out. There was an addition I did a couple yrs ago in which when I added the fish, (yet despite having my hands in the tank), it was still immediately rushed & bitten (by a couple terns & a caribe). Also, if the temp in your tank is a bit on the high side, it wouldnt hurt to gradually drop the temp a couple degrees or so.

Good luck
