i've been trying to train my p to get off of feeders but since i started which was like 2 days ago small chunks out of his tail....well he's the only fish in the tank so i'm assuming he is eating himself....because he looks very healthy....and insight on this would be greatly appreciated.....thanks in advance

You sure he doesn't have finrot? Also, what kind of feeders were you giving him, because some are inclined to be a bit nippy.

my bet is that he got fin rot form the feeders.

i was feeding rosy reds and blood worms but i have been trying to get him to eat shrimp and krill but he's not taking so i stopped food all together except for those too....and if it is fin rot how to i stop it...its only his tail fin the others are fine

i used trisulfa for fin rot when my betta got it and in 3 days he was all clear and regrowing fins so u have fin rot and use trisulfa

I would post pics in the disease forum before you decide to treat him. Ps dont take well to meds always so I would make sure this is the problem.

Indeed - based on the info we got so far, remarks like "that's fin rot for sure" is 100% pure BS speculation, based on nothing substantial.

Even worse, it doesn't help the thread starter at all, and hollow remarks are even potentially jeopardizing his fish: what if the thread starter starts treatment without even knowing what's going on, just because some of you couldn't stay quiet?
The ones suggesting fin rot would be the ones to blame if something happened, because they gave premature, possibly false advice. I doubt you want to be responsible for the death of someone else's fish, just because you couldn't shut up when that was all you had to do...

So please, if all you have to post is some vague guesses based on nothing, don't post at all.

Without pics there's not much we can do for you, FF, so if you have the chance post some in this thread

i'm trying to getahold of a digi cam but whatever it is has now spread to his body......i dont kno what to do.....i did add a tsp of salt to the water.....maybe this will slow whatever it is down....i'm gonna try to get pics tonight and post them but i gotta go to work so this sucks.... i wish i knew what it was will update tonight

get some medicine or somethin.. i used melafix when my p's fins were looking funky.

Never use medication when you don't know what is wrong - that applies to all fish, but even more to medicine-sensitive fish like piranha's.

Cut the feeders, and let it be for a week. It should heal up. If it is not healing you can make the asumption it is fin rot, or something similiar. Then you can decide which treatment to use.
