I am still new at this, but wouldnt it just be easier to wrap your flourescent light in electrical tape or something to get the darker effect. Rather than messing with the water.

The color of your water will turn to a tea color.

If Carbon removed the tea coloring wouldnt it make the water clear then? Then wouldnt it defeat the purpose of having the black water extract in the water or am i just confused.

Carbon is usually used to remove water coloration, thus partially undoing the effect of BWE indeed.
But BWE does more than just adding color to the water - it also adds nutrients to the water. I don't know if carbon will remove those as well, though....

Well... if the color is not there anymore, will the water still seem murky for the fish? THat is what im more intrested in

im not positive but i wouldn't think it would be murky for the fish once the color goes away. Hopefully someone knows for sure.
