hey how often should this stuff get changed in the media containers i just put it in yesturday and wondering how long it will last

activated charbon isn't really nessary unless your trying to adsorb tannins or chemicals(like medications) from the water. it dosent help filtration. I wouldn't use it unless you need it, use that space for other more important media.

i know i was just wondering how long it lasted. but since u say that what is other important media this is for my emperor 400 filter. MAD told me to get biomax i will be buying that soon enough

im not sure what biomax is. but is the emp. filter has a media basket like the penguin filters you can get some of that poly fill stuff, it looks like pillow stuffing, but made for aquarium filters.or you could add a sponge filter or even bioballs.

I am using the diamond blend right now. I change it roughly once a month when i change the other filters, etc.

What sold me on the product was on the label it said it can control "ammonia spikes". I figure what the hell, give it a try, i already have enough carbon from the filters so add a little blend. My levels are always at zero so something must be right.

I use 3 regular filters and 1 media basket with diamond blend.

an established tank should never have ammonia anyway.I think it may have ammo-chips with the carbon, but I don't think you really need it.

BIO MAX= ceramic cyclenders that are very poris, for growing benefical bacteria. They go in the gray media containers..

where do they sell those. I wouldn't mind buying some of those
