My red have been acting weird today, they seem miserable, or maybe they're playing? They will float over onto their sides and smack each other in the face with their tails, anybody know why they do this?

It sounds like an aggressive territorial behavior, such as "this is my space". Mine does that also when I put my hand up to the glass.

Its aggressive if they're tilted foreward before this occurs. I don't think smacking the other p with its tail is a sign of aggression but rather playin around if it means anything at all. If it was aggression they would chase the other p around and/or take nips at the others fins. When my piranhas are showing territorial beefs they bump each other around and/or chase each other.

thats a way they fight with eachother in a non lethal manner

signs of aggression that mine do is to point their head down to the gravel and curve their tail up wards and open the mouth

then they start to wag

yep, mine do this as well... it's cool watching them do it!

mine do that also when they are going to have a fight or warning another p off face down open mouth and slap with tail or nudge the side of the other p's head
