Can I use regular table salt in my tank? or is this harmful?

i tihnk it has to do with the iodine or something, table salt isnt good for your tank

Salt we eat has iodin in it which is suppose to be deadly to fish but from my experience i tried it a couple of times and nothing happen. I even poured enormus amount to the tank and still no effect. Aqurium salt is way safer and i would rather use that just to make sure.
