I've tried over the last couple of years to find good for you and good tasting protein shakes and haven't had much of luck. I've tried probably around 20 of em know, and as most of you probably know they are not exactly cheap. So I would just like to know what everyone else has tried and what seems to actually help in muscle repair and growth. I've currently been taking cytopro and its seems to work i just have to choke it down every now and then.

I go to the gym 4 days a week and used to drink White Lightning until they discontinued it. Now I take Mega Whey from GNC.. best way to repair muscles after work outs. Work out all you want and next day not be too sore!!!

i have tried over the last three years major brands i realized that taste is nice but for the thirty seconds it takes to wash it down it something you just get used to.the ones i stick with (quantity not quallity) 1) OPTIMUM nutrition (whey) 22grams protein choc/flav 5lbs pails

2) ULTIMATE nutrition (whey) 21grams protein straw/flav 5lbs pail

i normally take these shakes with cold fridge water or with filtered water at work, but once and a while i treat myself at the gym and buy a lowfat straw/banana uhmm good

DAMNIT IM PISSED, i just wrote up this huge cross comparison of protein types and uses and it got deleted. I will summarize by saying you need two protein types a pure whey, I recommend choclate mesotech which you blend with a bannana after a workout or vanilla and add a packet of instant oatmeal to it (apples and spice), trust me its awesome. VPX Miccelean is a pretty tasty low carb slow digesting protein, which digests over 7 hours.

I also wanted to adress the timing of your meals after working out. Alot of people get caught in this scheme of immediately eating a protein shake after you work out. Well guess what, you just lost valuable muscle building time in the process. The immediate concern of the body is to replinish glycogen supplies and withrdraw from a catabolic state as soon as possible. This calls for an Amino Acid / sugar solution preferably, however gatorade will work for you, just nothing carbonated. you should injest apx 30 grams of sugar immediate after the workout and i mean right away. 30 minutes later you should have a 50/50 split of carbs and protein, Mesotech with a bannana is perfect. 45 minutes after that you need a solid protein meal with little or not carbs. Up to 60 percent of your carbs should be consumed after you workout, medical studies indicate that large amount of carbs after strenous excercise are not stored as fat.

I have used that Whey Protein stuff. THe stuff I had was chocolate and good as ever. I would recommend it. See if your buddy had the brand you want to try though, cuz the one I had tasted just like a chocolate milkshake. NO BS

The sweeteners developed in the past year are unreal. If you do need a sweater shake you could always add splenda. Another verion i also liked was adding sugar free maple syrup to a vanilla shake.

within fifteen minutes after a workout you should get an intake of 75g of simple sugars to replenish your glycogen supplies which have been depleted after a workout. Within 40 minutes you should intake roughly 40-50g of protein since your body will usually not absorb more than that. As far a protein shakes go I will agree that mesotech is one hell of a MRP, I"m a big fan of muscle tech products. When picking one up try to look for one with a lot of ion exchanged whey as well as some calcium cassinate whey. The ion exchanged is much higher quality and absorbs fast while the cassinate is less quality but absorbs slower. You should try to consume 40% of your intake of food in your post workout meal, works wonders, as well as supplimenting with a L-glutamine drink since it is the ammino acid most responsible for building skeletal muscle. When I was on a steady diet of mesotech and a high protein diet ( I ate roughly 2g's of protein per lb of body weight) I put on muscle ultra fast, got up to bout 375lbs on bench by the time I was 20 years old. I also worked at vitamin world for 2 years so the employee discount was rather clutch

I cant even touch that gnc crap... its sooo nasty
I have been at the arnold classic the last two years and tried just about every shake, I did try a blueberry one by some weird company this year that was incredible and had no sugar. Muscle Milk was also a favorite as well as met-rx extreme chocolate. For someone just starting out 75 grams of sugar post workout might be a little extreme for someone who is around the 175 lbs mark. Your best bet to and all around beach body is moderation in everything. You want to give your body just enough to replinish, but spill over into fat gains. This goes the same with training. During the offseason i typically put on 20- 25 lbs in the first 2 months by making sure im not over exerting myself. You should lift hard and quick and get out of the gym as fast as you can. HIT traning routines are vastly superior for all-natural weight training because they do not blow you muscle glycogen and you will see constant results. I may type up and article on this but i already have put one up last month for dieting and what not.

the gnc whey isolate protien tastes like crap, but it has more protien and adsorbs better into the body, but if it tastes so bad that you avoid drinking it, it dosent work very good.whey concentrate(mega whey) is much better
