common name:clownfish
scientific name:Amphiprion and Premnas (anemonefishes)
size:some up to 5"
Origin:Indo-Pacific
Tank setup:they do well in a 20g but have been kept in 10g
Compatibility:peaceful and does well with other community fish
Temperature:75-79 degrees
Water chemistry:salt wtaer
Feeding:flakes and pellets
Sexing:females are larger than males (by almost 2")

the clownfish family contians 27 species
ocellaris(percula) being the most popular and available at almost all petstores

the clownfish is a very beatiful and hardy saltwater fish and great for beginners.they do very well in a home aquaruim and are very peaceful.they do not need a anemone to survive.and i would suggest not getting one for three reasons
1.they are very delicate and should only be kept by experienced hobbyist.
2.they are piosonous to other fish
3.they have a slow reproductive rate and takes many years for a colony to get back to normal in the wild.

breeding:
they were the first saltwater fish to be breeding in captivity
they can be bred in a 10g tank
the male cleans the area and the feamle will lay there eggs for the male to fertilize them

Maroon clowns can be very territorial/aggressive towards other fish
75 is much too low IMO, I dont like my tank dropping below 80, especially if you have corals.
they cant be sexed until they breed since they can change sex, meaning size isnt relative to anything.
