How do I tell if I've got a male or female AST when it is only 1-2"

The male tail is more longer and thicker and the vent is located much further.
sorry i'm a turtle noob...what is a vent?

Cloaca, to be more specific. It's the all-purpose body cavity used for reproduction and elimination, on a male the hempenes retract up into it, thus they require a bigger tail so they have someplace to go.

i really hate to bug but does someone out there have comparison pix of male next to female? I've also heard that males have longer claws to help grasp so they can do some steady humping.
