Everyone that owns a medinai needs to look at both of these links. The piranha that has been introduced into this hobby as S. Medinai is really S. Spilopleura CF. I thought I had a less colorful Medinai as everyone else but infact I have a different kind of S. Spilopleura CF as the others. I believe Frank's site says there is about 5 different kinds of S. Spilopleura CF.

Nate,
Check out the first pic under the spilopleura cf that often resemble medinai "S. spilopleura complex form. (L) Photo by Matt Galich." I swear that is Munen exactly. I don't want to copy and show it here because all those pics are copyrighted and I am not going to do that, but check it out to see what I mean.

check out the humeral spot it has...spilopleura cf have humeral spots differing depending on what geographic location they are from. not a rhom if you ask me, but then again it's a pic.....but then again not a rhom if you ask me. can't truly tell from the pic, i think the humural spot it has is the strongest evidence against rhom and for spilopleura cf.
