I would fill buckets up with most of your water and put your p's in the bucket and then get your tank setup as fast as you can, or you can get another tank and set up transport p's into that then take your time and setup your 55 gallon again. I would just do what I said in the first place in put them into buckets get lids so the water isn't all over the place and make sure to punch enough air holes in the top, put the p's in the bucket last and load everything up so they don't have to be in the bucket as long. I would get other input as well. Cuz me and Kev have done something like this but we had the tank set up we were just picking it up and such. Good luck.

You have plenty of time!!! RELAX!!

Put your Ps in a huge rubbermaid container before the transfer and set up your air pumps inside. As long as the container is powered by air pumps and inside room temp, you can actually leave the Ps in there overnight. Disassemble your tank without cleaning any of the equipment (filters, gravel, powerhead, decors..etc) so when assembling the new tank, some of the established bacteria would help in cycling the tank in a shorter period of time. Even though you put your tank together again with the same equipment, you should cycle it for 12 hrs just to be on the safe side. Arrange decors, make sure temp is right, check all water perimeters.. add fish!!

Seems like alot of work, but its really simple..

Your Ps can with stand more than 5-6 hrs in a container. You can buy a battery powered "air raider" at either WalMart or PetsClub for $10-$12, which comes with the pump, airline hose and air stone. I advice to using 2 just to be on the safe side. YOu can insert the airlines through the hole in handles (most containers have this) connected to your pump.

Trust me.. I've transported 8 huge RBs from (near the) Washington/Oregon border all the way to the Bay Area. 636 miles, 9 hrs...
