i have just got a 7 inch rhom yesterday for £120 the only problem is the only tank free was a matured 10g i have bought a 40g tank and i am currently setting it up . in the store he was in a 10 g. wIll he be ok for a few days in that 10g? or what else can i do HELP SOMEONE PLEASE.i have put a towel over the glass to keep him calm.he is a beast he must live. will add pics soon.

man you should've been a little wiser even if the fish you saw was selling for a good deal. the 10g is really small for a 7" fish. Also the filtration on the 10g wont be able to handle that much bioload with a fish that eats a high protien diet. The 40gal will take some time to cycle (probably 3 weeks))unless you use biospira.....

you can probably put him in a big rebbermaid container and use a matured filter on it for the time being. or You can keep him in the 10g and just do 10% water change/ gravel vac every day.... monitor your ammonia

i have filled the 40 g with water from my spilo tank and put a estabilshed sponge in the filter 40% spilo water 60% fresh water when shall i put him in he has been in 10g for 2 days i am worried but i had to have this fish

he can stay in that 10 gal for a week or a little more with no problems...

sh*t he was in a 10gal at the LFS BUT they have Wayy bigger filtration systems than what u got on that 10gal....

i also recommend that u do ONLY a water change and not gravel vac scine that tank is already small u would stress him out pluss why would u want your hand near that mouth full of razors?.... just do about 1 gal water change every 2 days..... and u say " its only temporary"

and i would wait about a 5-6 days...before u add the rhom to the tank...
but if ur using 40%old water and 60% new water.... u should worry about the PH levels if u are using tap water
i would also advise u too test the water before u decide to throw him in there...make sure the Ph is at the same level u have your Spilo in and ammonia are at zero or Low ...
..well if u are using water + filter from another tank ..u should be able to add him soon...

Is 120£ for a 7" P cheap?
If so: WOW! Didn't think it was that much.
I have seen people giving away 6" p's and selling them for 15-20£.
And 8" p's 5 years old, get sold for 40£.

He'll be okay, not the best of situations for him but at least you have a tank getting ready. He's just gonna live in a closet till he gets a bigger tank.

He should be okay.

Not the best example, but some people have 6/7" Oscars in 10g's - thats just to show you its possible until your other tank is finished. Just watch the water parameters.
