Since I am still new at all this I thought I should ask the pro's here, what type of filter, lights, air pump, and heater should I get for the tank? I don't want to leave the fishes with too little protection, ect. Any ideas?

You don't really need an air pump, and I don't know about lights, just make sure they're dim. As for heating, ebo jager is good, tronic is good, presets a good. And for filtration, I'd do like an ac300 on each side of the tank. Or maybe something with a bio wheel.

AquaClear 300 (AC 300) powerfilter, 100 watts heater, 200 GPH powerhead, termometer, 1/2' dark gravel, driftwood and some plants...

250-300 would be better.
right, so make sure you have at least 200. If you want more, you can get two heaters (200+100). I have a 55G and a 200watt is doing just fine for me. It really depends on your room temp and the location you place your aquarium at (avoid direct sunlight).
