I think that the rhom will do fine ... very nice fish actually (apart from the obvious).
I have over the years ended up with several one eye fish (through various conflicts, battles and genetic deformities). None has ever really suffered as a result and with an oscar I had and a couple of catfish. they have actually been more aggressive as a result ... at least that is what I am attributing the increased aggression too.
The only problem is that if you keep them with other fish then they are at a competative disadvantage .. maybe this causes the increased aggression ... and may lose out on food.
However this won't be a problem with your rhom.
The reall thing comes down to personal preference, if you are happy with a one eye fish. then that's great as there aren't that many people that would give him a home.
