Size: 8"
Origin: Africa - Cameroon, Nigeria, Congo
Tank setup: Large tank with plenty of hiding places
Compatibility: May become aggressive towards their own kind.
Temperature: 72-82F (22-28C)
Water chemistry: Fairly soft, slightly acidic
pH: 6.0-7.0
Feeding: Prefers live foods particually bloodworms, but will take frozen foods, and possibly dried foods
Sexing: Not sexually diamorphic

The elephantnose fish is an unusual fish which is easily recognisable, despite their being loads of species of elephantnose fish this (the most commen variety) is the only one that I am featuring this week, However I have seen one of the short nose varietys for sale before.
Others vary in look, some not having a nose or being a slightly differant colour or shape.
These fish cannot tolerate bad water and emmits electrical signals, the worse the water the more signals it produces.
Also it is really intolerant to medication, if you have one of these fish in your tank you should not use medicines.
These fish are generally peacefull, but are known to be semi-aggressive to its own kind, especially weaker fish of the same species.

Innes
well I don't have one of these at the moment, but I have done in the past.

I have been keeping community fish for 16 years and in that time I have kept a fair number of species.

I currently have around 80 community fish, with quite a few species, if you want to see the fish I own here
