another name quesition on the flagtail Rate Topic: -----

so far it seems i have found two different scientific names for this fish.


Semaprochilodus taeniurus

and

Semaprochilodus insignis

i usually go with fish base but i dont know how dated it is, has it changed?


post your experiences with em, behavior, diets you gave em, did you have it solo or in a group and how many, how did they act alone or grouped, were they peacful or bullied or stood their own, post anything and everything you got no matter how little you think it is,

i couldnt really find alot on these guys so the more the merrier

well the first one was last edited 2002... and the second one says its base info comes from the 70s. i'd go with the first one just from web page updating/information basis

i didnt even see those dates, :rockon: im gonna look at some of

the sites i found again to double check dates if i can find them,

i didnt see the one on fish base but ill find it

  • Current Piranhas: Everybody's heard, about the word, a bird bird bird, bird is the word!

I keep mine in a 110gl with other peaceful south americans.
They will fight if kept in groups in cramped conditions you will need a huge tank to keep a group.
They need veg in their diet, feed algae tabs peas lettuce etc

Btw im not 100% but i seem to remember that taeniurus and insignis are different fish...
