They also believe the relocated animals could restore biodiversity on this continent to a condition closer to what nature was like before humans overran the landscape.
They suggest starting with zoo animals. The perimeters of newly created reserves would be fenced.

Somewhere in there LOGIC just imploded and ceased to exist.

Yeah but there's so much else wrong. I was really sad to see Harry Greene had gotten in on this. I always respected his work with snakes. My guess is Ted Turner's money is blinding him.
There are so many better ways to get the few benefits that this would provide. Rollerchopping is something done to remove brush (at least in the Southeast) and this could simulate the tearing up of brush by mammoths.
Not to mention disease and completely different behaviors, REGARDLESS of what these people think. Mammoths and mastodons and elephants are VERY different and saber tooth cats are EXTREMELY different from lions. The size scale, group behaviors, feeding, it is a black box at best. Again, how did a name like Greene get into this crackpot idea?... oh well.

But the plan is triggering thunderclaps of criticism, with discouraging words like "stupid" and "defeatist" raining down in torrents.
