does anyone have a good link to a list of the latin names of fish?
im pickin it up slowly but surely but id like to see a nice link were it
breaks it down into a family tree like style. i find them doing profiles for
individual fish but i was wondering if theres something easier out there
that someone may have book marked or something

Good question Freez. There are tons of sites (Fishbase, etc.) with the scientific names and a lot with "trees". The trees are still (and probably will always be) somewhat in debate. The higher up relationships tend to have less changes, so I'd say this site is pretty good:
http://www.bio.utexas.edu/courses/bio354l/...l#_Toc481891373
It has most of the "modern" fishes, excluding the gars, bowfin, sturgeon, paddlefish, etc.
I'll try to track down others/better sites.

You can also use this user-friendly site:
http://tolweb.org/tree?group=Gnathostomata...roup=Vertebrata
Working down to teleosts (most 'modern' fishes), you get this:
http://tolweb.org/tree?group=Teleostei&con...=Actinopterygii
Feel free to ask what any of the names represent. Also, if anyone else has other sites feel free to share those too.

If there's ever anything I'm stumped on I'll usually use fishbase.org
Some of the names on there are outdated though, so double check online just to make sure

Knowing higher groups will definitely help the I.D. game (and real life I.D. too! ). Searching the higher groups (Orders, Families, etc.) will give you some traits for them.
