What is the normal growth rate of a common pleco?

Put briefly, very quick. :maaad: They go from the little 1 or 2 inch fish you see in the LFS, to an 8 inch fish within a few months, and just keep going on from there.....

:confused: they need a huge tank for an adult, not just for the massive size, but for the HUGE bioload they put on the tanks

wow i could have sworn they were slow growing fish.

i have a 3in one and he eats everything my P doesn't. fish heads, pieces of shrimp, everything.....he seems very healthy is this ok?

The ones I used to have didn't grow very fast either - 2" per year, at most...
They looked splendid though, were active and had great appetites: so as long as he's healthy and feeding well, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

all my common plecos grew SLOOOOWWWWWW. i never had a pleco that grew a few inches in a few months. the largest one i ever had was about 10 inches long.
ive had plecos that i had before i wouldnt see often for a few months and when i saw them again they barely grew in size.
but maybe im mistaken, it was awhile ago
