your guys thread on fresh water sharks got me think some, and how did some catfish

get the "shark" name attached to it?

Only speculation here, but I think its reasonable to say its due to superficial physical resemblance.

Probably 'cause they look really similar. Get rid of a sharks big teeth, and get rid of a catfish's whiskers, and you have two fish that look remarkably alike.
