  • Interests:Studying and researching piranhas since 1957. Kept over 200 aquariums and a live piranha exhibit in Sutherlin, Oregon from 1994-2000. Retired but still active on OPEFE web site.
  • Current Piranhas: Lots of nice preserved ones now.

can someone tell me what separates the hydrolycus genus from the rhaphiodon genus?
the belodontichthys is very similar as well I see...

See Frank's site. I think, besides being more slender, there's a difference in relative positions of Rhaphiodon's fins (dorsal to anal).
