i have seen this Duck Weed in tanks with Allagators and other fish, is it a good food source for Exodons? I love the look and the way it will make the light more natural for the fish (shading it a bit). Any sugestions either way ???? I included a pic of what im talking about...

yes duckweed grows non stop and is quite invasive. anyone that has a pond with duckweed introduced into it is probally fighting it years after........its a weed, like the name suggestes. its hardy and accepts a huge range of temps and waters. its a quite common food source for many fish, not sure about exodons though.

I have it in my turtle tank. I net out a TON of it every week and it's still there. It's spread to some of my other tanks, too. Now THAT makes me laugh, heh.

exo's wont eat it, they are piscivorus (or carnivorus i cant remember) which mean greens (such as this duckweed) should not be included in their diet.

Yes, as the King suggested, these are carnivorious fishes, feeding on scraps of dead fish, and the fins and scales of live fish. Exodons wont show a bit of intrest in duckweed one bit.

That being said, another good thing to mention, that has been brought up, is that these plants will grow well. And grow well they do indeed. My younger brother wanted some for his 10 gallon Guppy Tank, and considering that he only had twin incandesent lights, I figured it would grow too well, so i let him put it in my 2.15 wpg 29 gallon....I now have a green water surface. It also has clogged filters and burned up their motors. Food for thought.

i dont think i would say that, especially since in a pond you would have to scoop it out all the time, but in fish tanks is can make a mess
